Cucurbita moschata
An old, versatile Japanese variety withexcellent flavour.
The flattened fruits reach a weight of 1- 3 kg and turn from green to orange with a dark patina when ripening. The firm flesh is dark orange and has a tasty, sweet and nutty aroma.
The fruits, which store well, can be used raw, in the oven, on the grill, in a pan or deep-fried, as a dip or salad.
